Tips on How to Eliminate Bad Foot Odor

Having feet that smell is no fun. Sometimes you might not even notice and someone else tells you about it. Can we say embarrassing? It might be because you do a lot of activity where you sweat on a regular basis or it could be that you just have smelly feet. A lot of women when they get pregnant have this complaint and it’s just because of hormones. But with that being said, whatever the reason is for your bad foot odor you want a cure, or a least something to help prevent them from smelling and your neighbor complaining when you take your shoes off. Let’s take a look at some of the ways to prevent and eliminate bad foot odor so you can keep your feet smelling fresh and maybe even go for that pedicure you’ve been longing for but haven’t gotten because of this issue. There are plenty of options and we’ll explore them all for you here.

Keep Them Clean!

Really, it’s something that you probably already do however you can add certain things to your daily cleaning regimen that can help keep them fresher and therefore smelling better. First things first, while taking a shower, use an antibacterial soap, which will help kill the odor causing bacteria that tend to hang out on our feet. After you are done make sure to dry your feet completely, especially between the toes where if they stay moist a fungus could grow. Afterwards you can also wipe the area between your toes with witch hazel or apple cider vinegar.

Natural Remedies

There are plenty of natural remedies that you can use in addition to some of the products that are listed below.  Vinegar is a great option, 1-part vinegar and 2 parts water which can reduce the amount of bacteria on your feet, which is also the aim of the other soaks that are listed here. You can also use tea. If you haven't heard, green tea is a great remedy for a lot of things with its antibacterial properties. 4 to 5 tea bags in a quart of water and a 20-minute soak should make things healthier and cleaner.

Use Products Made for Your Feet

We use plenty of products to keep the rest of our body smelling good so why not something to keep your feet smelling great and keeping them dry.  You can use foot powders to keep them dry, especially the ones that go in your shoes, however you can also use a foot deodorant. There are some great options out there and these are a few:

Sprayzee Natural Shoe and Feet Deodorizer: For those of you who want something all natural, this could be the product for you. It’s made with peppermint oil, grapefruit oil, clove oil, eucalyptus oil, and bergamot oil.  Your feet will smell beautiful after you use this.  Plus, you can also spray your shoes and socks.

Dr. Scholl’s Odor Destroyer Deodorant Spray: Dr. Scholl’s is a well-known brand and they make plenty of deodorants for your smelly foot problem.  This is the spray however they do also have a powder as well if you prefer that. It controls odors as well as keeps your feet dry, just like a deodorant for your armpits does.

Rotate Your Footwear

Now it’s understood that this might not be feasible for everyone. If you have excessively sweaty feet it’s ideal to have at least two pairs of shoes and you should change them every day in order to let them completely dry out, which will help prevent odors.  A lot of people also recommend putting them in the sun when they dry as the sun has an amazing ability to reduce odors while drying.

In addition to making sure that you rotate your shoes, you should also ensure that you are wearing socks that are dry. If you are sweaty, change your socks. Keep an extra pair in your bag at all times to change them throughout the day. This can help both the smell and bacterial growth on your feet as well as your shoes.

Stinky Feet Be Gone!

These are all great ways to get your feet to smell better and for you to feel better for yourself as well. Foot odor can be embarrassing, especially if it’s someone else who mentions it.  Try these remedies and hopefully by the time you're done you find the right combination of products that work for you. If you don’t have any relief from these remedies provided, then it’s recommended to speak with your doctor as there are prescription products that can greatly help as well.
